Łódź, Poland
It’s been a surprisingly great stretch of time here in Łódź.
I didn’t come here with big expectations. To be honest, I hadn’t even heard of Łódź (pronounced “Woodge”) until I started poking around the Airbnb map. But after three months of living here—through warm summer days into cozy autumn—I can say it’s been one of the more underrated places I’ve stayed.
Here are a few of my favorite finds:
Piłsudskiego Park
Top 5 Coffee Shops in Łódź
1. Morning Coffee & More
Modern, cozy, and perfect for a workday. Their blue matcha is a fun twist, and the pretzel sandwiches were a weekly go-to.
2. The Brick Coffee Factory
Hipster hangout, a little pricey, but their iced lattes hit the spot. Great vibe for a chill afternoon.
3. Przędza
Located just off Piotrkowska Street. The back room is set up for coworking, and it’s one of the best local spots to get stuff done.
4. Biotiful at PURO Hotel
Feels more like a designer coworking space than a café. Sleek, quiet, and laptop-friendly—with great food too.
5. Klubokawiarnia Owoce i Warzywa
This one’s more relaxed, with a creative-meets-industrial feel. Good for people-watching and unstructured afternoons.
Foods I Obsessed Over
Ferment Pizza
Every pizza is a little unconventional, and I loved that. One of my weekly orders was inspired by Tan Tan Men—it was just... so good.
Ramenownia by Susharnia
Their Mayu Tonkotsu ramen was flavorful but not heavy. Comforting and consistent, I went back often.
Pierogarnia Stary Młyn
Duck-filled pierogi, pan-seared on one side. Locals love the Ruskie (potato and cheese), but I kept going back for the duck. Bonus: everything’s locally sourced.
A Must-See Event
Light Move Festival
I’m so glad my time here lined up with this. For a few nights each fall, the city lights up—literally—with projections on historic buildings, art installations, and music. It’s one of the most unique urban festivals I’ve seen and gives the city such a different vibe at night.
Neighborhood Vibes
Śródmieście (City Center / Piotrkowska Street)
Where everything happens. Cafés, restaurants, and street life. If you want to be in the center of it all, stay here.
Bałuty (where I stayed)
Not the most polished part of town, but close to Manufaktura and has that everyday-local energy. It felt real, and I appreciated that.
Old Polesie (Stare Polesie) (also stayed here)
A little gritty in a charming way. You’ll find hints of a growing artsy vibe. Great if you’re into vintage buildings and creative spaces.
Górna
More quiet and residential. Green spaces, slower pace. Probably best if you’re looking for calm over convenience.
